VIDEA International Youth Internship Program 2013-14 ***All positions have been filled for 2013 VIDEA is now pleased to accept applications for the 2013-2014 International Youth Internship Program! We are offering 20 internship positions with partner organizations in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zambia. VIDEA’s internship program is part of the International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) funded as part of the Youth Employment Strategy (YES) of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Internships are divided into two cohorts: April to October and June to December (see below for a list of individual positions and links to job descriptions). Internships include a 2 week pre-departure briefing in Victoria, a 6 month placement overseas, a one-week reintegration training after the overseas placement, and public engagement activities in Canada. Interns will receive a modest stipend to cover food, accommodation and incidentals. Airfare, vaccinations and health insurance are all included in the program. These positions are cost-share internship positions. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute $1,000 to the internship prior to arrival for the pre-departure briefing. This contribution is tax-deductible. To be eligible, you must be: • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident • A post-secondary graduate - a graduate of a degree or diploma program from a university, college, post-secondary school of technology, post-secondary institute or a CEGEP (collège d'enseignement général et professionnel) • Out of school • Between the ages of 19 and 30 • Unemployed or underemployed (this can include individuals working in their field of study but only on a part-time basis; individuals working on a full or part-time basis in an area not related to their field of study) • Legally entitled to work in Canada • Have not participated in an internship within the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy (YES) Please visit the CIDA FAQ page for Interns for more information on eligibility. Please note: This internship programme is exclusively drug-free; applicants must have the ability and willingness to abstain from the use of all recreational drugs for the full duration of the programme.
